Vodafone-Afrimax awards ZTE contracts to deploy end-to-end LTE networks in Cameroon and Zambia

17 November 2015, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has been awarded exclusive contracts by Vodafone-Afrimax Group for 4G long term evolution (LTE) networks in Cameroon and Zambia.

Vodafone-Afrimax, a partner of Vodafone Group, will deploy ZTE’s end-to-end (E2E) 4G LTE and evolved packet core (EPC) solutions covering wireless access, core networks, microwave transmission, value-added system, business support systems (BSS) and operating support systems (OSS) in Cameroon and Zambia. ZTE will provide its industry-leading core-network solutions including its enhanced telecommunications computing architecture (ETCA) and the T8000, in addition to its software defined radio (SDR) wireless solution to deliver high-performance and seamless 4G time division (TD)-LTE, 3G and 2G services to users.

In 2014, Vodafone-Afrimax entered into a Partner Markets Agreement with Vodafone. Based in Amsterdam, Vodafone-Afrimax has the largest portfolio of 4G LTE spectrum across 17 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The latest partnerships in Cameroon and Zambia further strengthen the relationship between ZTE and Vodafone-Afrimax, as the two companies share a common mission to deliver high-quality mobile broadband services and user experience to consumers and businesses in Africa.

ZTE will provide Vodafone-Afrimax with baseband units (BBU) with the industry’s highest processing capacity, and 8-channel remote radio units (RRU) with industry-leading bandwidth, and support for the 2.3G and 2.6G frequency bands. ZTE’s high-performance solutions will enable Vodafone-Afrimax to offer 4G LTE service innovations to subscribers, including new pricing models for data services, roaming and cache services, with wider network coverage and higher throughput efficiency, enabling flexible network deployment and reduced maintenance costs.
