Indian carrier services firm Tata Communications has announced that its network is now ready to supply VoLTE services to operators connected to its IPX.
The firm said that customers of its operator partners will benefit from “near-instant” voice call setup and better sound quality on calls, including HD Voice interoperability between fixed and mobile networks.
Tata claims that the network upgrade will offer its operator partners improved voice quality, which will lead to increased usage and ultimately increased revenues. It added that investing in VoLTE would significantly reduce customer churn for operators, noting that VoLTE services and OTT VoIP services combined are forecast to be worth $16bn by 2017, according to Infonetics Research.
