Facebook snaps up Snaptu
Snaptu said it will be working to offer a richer and more advanced Facebook app

Social networking giant Facebook has snapped up mobile application developer Snaptu for an undisclosed sum. Snaptu, founded by Moblica in 2007, develops Java-based apps for feature phones and mid-range devices. The company’s Facebook app currently works on more than 2,500 devices.

Snaptu said it will be working to offer a richer and more advanced Facebook app on virtually every mobile phone and its owners decided that working as part of the Facebook team offered the best opportunity to keep accelerating the pace of product development.

Moblica maintains a development centre in Tel-Aviv and an office in London.
