SoftAtHome, a software provider of home operating platforms for the Digital Home, has started working with US silicone specialist Ikanos Communications to bring a next-generation gateway platform to the market.

The new platform is expected to combine the SoftAtHome Operating Platform’s streaming media management and graphical user interface with the recently-announced Fusiv Vx185/175 communications processors from Ikanos, in order to address the specific needs of advanced IPTV services and multi-screen deployments.

The solution is described as suiting any network architecture, and will utilise Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) technology to improve the user experience for media sharing throughout the home.

“SoftAtHome is delighted to expand its partnership with Ikanos,” said Michel Degland, CEO of SoftAtHome. “After deploying many joint solutions together, we are now collaborating on making the next generation home gateway the cornerstone of the home for the deployments of digital home services by Service Providers around the world.”

SoftAtHome is headquartered in France, is backed by French telco Orange, CPE provider Sagemcom and UAE telco Etisalat, and aims to deliver total convergence through an operating platform for the digital home environment.
