South Africa’s incumbent carrier, Telkom, has announced the acquisition of a further 25 per cent of Nigerian operator Multi-Links Telecom.

Telkom paid out $130m for the stake, which takes its ownership of the Nigerian firm to 100 per cent.

Multi-Links is a Nigerian private operator with a Unified Access License and internet Service Provider License providing fixed, mobile, data, long distance and international telecommunications services.

Telkom acquired the initial 75 per cent shareholding in Multi-Links in May 2007.
