EE claims clean sweep of latest Rootmetrics numbers

Rootmetrics has released the results of its UK’s national mobile performance for the second half of 2016 with EE claiming top spot.

EE was in fact the best performing mobile brand in the UK across all categories (Overall, Reliability, Speed, Data, Text, Call), replicating the clean sweep which it achieved during the first half of 2016. The research also claims the number of UK consumers able to access 4G networks has increased by approximately seven million over the past 12 months, taking the total up to 54 million.

“Our independent, comprehensive, and scientific testing showed significant increases in both 4G availability and the reliability of mobile services over the past year across all networks,” said Scott Stonham, GM of Europe at RootMetrics. “Consumer demand for data-heavy services – such as video and music streaming – is exploding. As consumers hunt for the strongest performance they can afford, mobile operators are making investments to make sure they keep up.”

While the EE clean sweep will be a healthy PR win for the team, it is also worth noting Vodafone, Three and O2 have all improved from the previous edition of the research. In Wales, for example, Three and EE shared the Network Reliability RootScore Award, while in Scotland, Vodafone and EE shared both the Text and Call RootScore Awards.

EE is leading the way in the cities, but Rootmetrics has noted the competition is catching up. EE was the only operator achieve median download speeds of 20+ Mbps in all 16 metros tested, that said, Vodafone and Three were singled out for increased network performance over the course of the six months.

At least Gavin Hasselhoff Patterson will get the chance to show off those recently bleached pearly whites while collecting EE’s award.
