Keysight claims first 5G device testing toolset

Measurement and testing outfit Keysight has unveiled what it calls the industry’s first 5G protocol R&D toolset.

The purpose of this toolset is not to develop 5G from a network perspective, for once, but is focused on the device and chipset end of things. It allows testing of 5G features such as beamforming at millimeter-wave frequencies as well as protocol testing with access to layer 1 and layer 2 parameters. As ever the point of toolsets like this is to enable industry to replicate the real-world environment as closely as possible.

“We are very excited to be at the forefront of the 5G technology and delivering new solutions throughout the 5G ecosystem,” said Satish Dhanasekaran, GM of Wireless Test at Keysight. “With the launch of the industry’s first 5G protocol R&D toolset, developers will gain the ability to seamlessly prototype designs as they migrate from pre-5G to 5G NR.”

This is just one of a flurry of announcements from Keysight this week, it also announced a broadband millimeter-wave network analyzer solution that covers frequencies up to 120 GHz. Keysight is also showing off its latest products aimed at the automotive sector, including battery testing and general connected car cleverness at the appropriately named Automotive testing Expo.
