Network optimisation firm JDSU has announced the acquisition of real time intelligence software provider Trendium, for an undisclosed sum.

Trendium’s software is used for customer experience assurance, asset optimisation and monetisation of big data for LTE operators. JDSU said the acquisition will enable it to launch enhanced customer experience assurance solutions while maximising productivity and profitability for converged networks.

The Trendium solution will form part of JDSU’s mobile assurance and analytics solution, which helps operators to identify and resolve performance problems that have the biggest impact on customer churn. JDSU cited a report from analyst firm Analysys Mason which found that service quality issues are responsible for 40 per cent of all customer churn.

The 10th annual LTE World Summit, the premier 4G event for the telecoms industry, is taking place on the 23rd-26th June 2014, at the Amsterdam RAI, Netherlands. Click here to download a brochure for the event.

“Our combined engineering talent and JDSU’s global sales team and world class support will help us serve mobile operators and their customers with dynamic and cost effective solutions as they continue to evolve their network offerings,” said Sameh Yamany, president and CEO of Trendium.

In March last year, the firm also acquired geo-location and RAN planning specialist Arieso for $85m. Arieso’s product line was acquired to better equip JDSU in helping operators address the rapidly growing deployment of small cells and challenges associated with limited spectrum capacity.

JDSU also announced its 2Q14 results for the period ended December 31st, 2013. The firm recorded net revenue of $447.6m, up slightly on the $429.4m in 2Q13, and net income stood at $8.8m, more than double the $4.1m recorded in the same period a year ago.
