Sprint buys spectrum and customers from US Cellular
US operator Sprint has signed an agreement with rival US Cellular to acquire PCS spectrum and customers in the Midwest region of the country. Sprint will acquire 20 MHz of PCS spectrum in the 1900MHz band in various Midwest markets and 10 MHz of PCS spectrum in the St Louis market.
U.S. Cellular to launch LTE network in March
The North American carrier U.S. Cellular has announced that it will launch its LTE network in March, along with accompanying LTE ready devices. The network which will be launched in conjunction with its build partner King Street Wireless, was originally meant to come online by the end of 2011, and no specific reason was provided for the delay.
Huawei in the running for US Cellular LTE contract
Chinese vendor Huawei has made the shortlist in the tender for US Cellular Corp’s LTE network.US Cellular plans to roll out its LTE network later this year but is, according to a spokesman, still evaluating the results of a trial that took place in 2010.
