Finnish giant Nokia continues to divest of non-core assets with the announcement that it is to offload its operator branded messaging business to Synchronica.
Synchronica’s acquisition of NeuStar’s Next Generation Messaging (NGM) assets for the very low sum of US$251,000 is the culmination of a long fall from grace for the mobile-instant-messaging platform provider formerly known as Followap, which was acquired by NeuStar in Nov. 2006 for US$139 million.
Mobile messaging provider Synchronica has acquired Canadian firm iseemedia for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition expands Synchronica’s reach into India, where iseemedia’s customers include mobile operators Tata and Reliance Communications and ISP Indiatimes Mail. The company has also developed document streaming technology, which it claims reduces bandwidth consumption when downloading email attachments by up to 90 per cent, whcih will be integrated into Synchronica’s Mobile Gateway.
