
Machine to Machine was a hot topic at MWC 2011 and, twelve months down the line, the sector is showing impressive growth. Jasper Wireless is one of the companies that can claim to be driving the sector and Cindy Patterson, Jasper’s EVP for global sales, talks to Telecoms.com about the progress being made.
Monday night I went along to see Ericsson at their ‘mingle’. You couldn’t fault their mingling skills; everyone from Hans Vestberg on down was there to grip and grin, and they made sure to spend a good bit of time with each of their guests. “This industry used to be run from Stockholm and Helsinki,” said CTO Hakan Ericsson, with a smile. “Not any more.” He’s based in Silicon Valley now, which says a lot.
Spanish carrier Telefónica has struck a deal with machine to machine specialist Jasper Wireless that will see the two firms partner on enterprise and consumer M2M solutions. The Telefónica Control Centre, the carrier said, will enable “M2M enterprise customers and device manufacturers to profitably connect and manage embedded mobile devices.”

Australian carrier Telstra has upped its game in the machine to machine (M2M) space, introducing a web-based self-service platform, allowing organisations to manage M2M products themselves.
