This mobile broadband hotspot idea continues to take the operator world by storm, with US carrier Verizon Wireless also getting in on the action this week.
UK-based Vodafone is the latest carrier to embrace the mobile broadband-enabled hotspot device type, with the unveiling of the R201. The unit, which is similar in concept to the Novotel Mifi, 3’s MiFi offering, and Sprint’s Overdrive, enables five wifi devices to simultaneously share digital content stored on the device (via SD card) and access the internet via a mobile broadband connection.

There seems to be a growing interest in mobile broadband hotspots, in the operator community at least, which may seem a little strange given the recent noise about femtocells and moving traffic off the macro network.
