Altair TD-LTE chipset hits 50Mbps in China Mobile demo

Altair has demoed its TDD chipset to China Mobile delivering 50Mbps down, and 18Mbps up

Altair Semiconductor, a developer of LTE chipsets, has shown off its TD-LTE chipset running at up to 50Mbps on the downlink, and 18Mbps on the uplink. The demonstration was made to China Mobile executives at a Next Generation Mobile Network (NGMN) Alliance board meeting using an AsiaTelco manufactured USB dongle.

TI to acquire National Semiconductor for $6.5bn

Silicon vendor Texas Instruments (TI) has announced that it is to acquire fellow semiconductor player National Semiconductor in an all-cash deal that values National at $6.5bn. TI said the deal had the unanimous approval of the boards of both companies and is expected to close in the final quarter of the year.
