
Gia edits Mobile Handset Analyst, a fortnightly newsletter published by Informa Telecoms & Media.
In this role, Gia is responsible for the timely delivery of news, analysis and feature stories about mobile devices. She covers the hardware and software components of mobile handset from a technical perspective. These would include chipsets, displays, operating systems and applications. She also covers how players in the mobile handset industry run their businesses.
Gia has six years experience in market research in the world’s largest FMCG company, and nine years experience in writing about technology. She was the managing editor of PC Magazine Middle & Near East, a subsidiary of the Ziff-Davies publication that was the world’s first reviews-based computer magazine, and editor of Wire Industry, a trade publication that covered wire and cable production.
Gavin is Editorial Director and Principal Analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Research division, coordinating its regional coverage and output.
In his role, Gavin has built up a wealth of experience covering everything from the development of regional markets and operator strategies, to the evolution of data networks and fixed/mobile convergence. Gavin’s most recent piece of research covered growth opportunities in the Indian mobile market. He has also published research on the 2.6GHz-band auctions in Europe, broadband technology evolution and handset initiatives for emerging markets.
Gavin has 12 years experience in the telecoms sector as a journalist and analyst and previously worked as business editor on the Hongkong Standard and Eastern Express. He is a regular at international conferences throughout the world and also conducts briefing sessions with operators, vendors.
James Moore is a Research Analyst among the Data & Forecasting team and his primary focus is the updating of content on the World Cellular Information Service.
He has also contributed to numerous reports such as a report on infrastructure sharing as well as writing for the Intelligence Centres. His regional focus is on the Indian sub-continent and he has attended conferences and trade fairs in Asia Pacific including CommunicAsia in Singapore and GSM India.
Areas of interest have included amongst others the analysis of historical subscription growth and forecasts, examination of the uptake of data services, analysis of trends of performance operational data, investor developments in the region, and an analysis of the infrastructure vendors in the Indian subcontinent including the increasing trend towards passive infrastructure sharing and outsourced infrastructure deals.
James is also a member of the Handset & Devices team and has had a particular focus on monitoring the activities of the Japanese and Korean handset manufacturers including LG, NEC and Samsung. He maintains and updates the Handset Database and plays an integral role in the publication of the quarterly World Cellular Handset Tracker.
Tammy is a principal analyst within Informa Telecoms & Media.
In her role, Tammy manages the Mobile Americas Intelligence Centre, which provides thought leadership, news analysis, key metrics, forecasts and more regarding operators, service providers, vendors and trends involved in shaping the mobile communications industry across North America, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
Tammy is also a regular contributor to Informa Telecoms & Media’s research services, primarily Global Mobile, 3G Wireless Broadband and Mobile Handset Analyst. Areas of particular focus for her include open-access, fixed-mobile convergence and operator strategy.
With 22 years of experience covering the mobile communications industry as a journalist and analyst, Tammy is a regular speaker and moderator at industry conferences and has been quoted in the global business press. Based in the United States, she holds an MBA from the University of Colorado and a BA from the University of Denver.
