O2 gets one over on Vodafone UK
21 February 2008
UK mobile operator O2 announced Thursday that it has ousted rival Vodafone, from what it calls a "coveted" corporate contract with Network Rail, which owns and operates Britain's rail infrastructure.
The deal, which is O2's largest corporate customer win, will see the Telefonica-owned carrier providing voice, BlackBerry and other mobile data services on the UK rail network.
Under the contract, Network Rail will port a total of 23,000 connections over to O2.
