Sony Ericsson intros Windows Mobile phone

Handset manufacturer Sony Ericsson announced that it has licensed Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform for use in its latest handset, the Xperia X1.
The device, manufactured by Taiwanese firm HTC, is a slider model with a full QWERTY keyboard, a 3" touchscreen VGA display and support for HSDPA/HSUPA and wifi.
"People should be able to have phones that deliver what they need throughout the day and stay connected with today's broad array of on-demand information and entertainment no matter where they are," said Pieter Knook, senior vice president of the Mobile Communications Business at Microsoft. "Our shared vision with Sony Ericsson is to make the concept of 'One Phone for Your Life' a reality and finally give consumers the freedom of true mobility."
The Xperia X1 will be introduced within the second half of 2008 the device will be the first in a range under the new Sony Ericsson Xperia sub-brand.
