ntl:Telewest takes on BT with next gen network

UK business communications provider, ntl:Telewest Business, moved to beat BT to the punch on Tuesday with the unveiling of its own next generation, integrated network.
With the consumer part of its business tied up with the merger of NTL, Telewest and Virgin, ntl:Telewest Business, also part of the Virgin Media Group, is positioning itself as a contender to BT's 21st Century Network.
The network being launched as part of the cable firm's 'Bigger Than You Think' campaign, which is designed to demonstrate the increased scale, scope and capability of the network since the merger of ntl and Telewest in March 2006.
Stephen Beynon, managing director of ntl:Telewest Business, said, "For too long BT has had its own way in the business communications market. We've invested £13bn in our network and continue to invest further to ensure we remain ahead of the competition with our infrastructure and our service."
BT, which started transferring lines over to its 21CN late last year, is on an aggressive timescale to deploy the service across the UK by 2011.
