The animation language that brought moving images to the internet is about to make the jump onto mobiles.
Adobe Systems Inc., by far the world's most successful digital imaging company unveiled a deal with Verizon Wireless on Wednesday to put Flash animation software onto Verizon mobile phones.
Adobe did not reveal the financial details or launch dates for the deal but said the agreement will make Verizon the first wireless operator in the US to offer mobile phones with built-in Flash.
According to the pair, the new service will "allow customers to more quickly view graphic images on their screens".
Adobe Vice President Gary Kovacs said the deal pushes the company beyond computers and into the potentially lucrative mobile phone market. "This is the first US-based Flash service for mobile phones," he said. "It will be much easier to get at data."
