<p>LTE will account for 31 per cent of all mobile service revenues by 2017 according to a new report from Juniper Research. The report says that, by 2017, global LTE  revenues will exceed US$340bn compared to US$75bn in 2013 and nearly 70 per cent of this will be generated by the North America, Far Eastern and China markets.</p>
<p>The report notes that LTE has gained significant customer traction over the last 12 months, initially from enterprises but increasingly from consumers thanks to the increased availability of LTE capable smartphones. Consumer take-up will exceed that of businesses by 2015 <a href="http://www.juniperresearch.com/reports/4g_lte_strategies">the report said</a>, and will account for half of all LTE revenues.</p>
<p>The report highlighted the need for operators to focus on getting pricing right. “Overall they will have to present customers with innovative services that will meet users’ requirements and, crucially, that users will attach value to. Operators will have to review their tariff structures to balance the need to monetise the greatly increased data throughput, yet still offer attractive packages”, said report author Nitin Bhas.</p>
