Chunghwa 3G upgrade

Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom is upgrading its 3G network to the tune of Euro72m. The carrier will trial Nokia Siemens Networks’ Internet High Speed Access (I-HSPA) network. The trial will pave the way for a migration to an flat all-IP architecture.

NSN will deploy its Flexi Base Station and mobile softswitching solutions, along with a high capacity/connectivity RNC and packet core solution, including CombiSGSN and FlexiISN, to boost the overall High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) performance of the network.

In addition, NSN will continue to rollout its IP backhaul solution. The project, which includes network implementation and design, optimisation, systems integration and maintenance services, will be completed by July 2009.
