Users find it easier to configure Windows Mobile Pocket Outlook than RIM’s BlackBerry, according to an end-user report from analyst firm, Strategy Analytics.

The report: Windows Mobile Outlook Easiest to Configure: Beats BlackBerry BIS, Nokia S60 and UIQ v3.0 Email Clients says that Pocket Outlook achieved a 100 per cent success rate in its benchmark tests while the BlackBerry “suffered fatal email configuration challenges”.

The research also found that “discoverability was an issue for Nokia Series 60”.

“Participants showed a strong preference for an on-device wizard approach to email setup,” according to Paul Brown, user experience analyst at Strategy Analytics. “Step-by-step guidance through the setup process makes it very difficult for participants to actually go wrong.”

The research found that not a single participant was able to setup an email account on a BlackBerry without assistance. Kevin Nolan, Director of the user experience labs said: “Every participant felt it was counterintuitive to be required to access the web browser in order to setup a new email account.”

RIM refused to comment.
