Nokia loses technology boss

The world’s biggest mobile handset vendor, Nokia, said Monday that chief technology officer Bob Iannucci has resigned from his post with immediate effect.

The Finnish vendor said Iannucci will continue to work as an advisor to the firm until a replacement is found. “Personal reasons,” were listed as the reason for his departure, although it’s known that Motorola is hiring.

Iannucci joined Nokia in 2004 to head up the company’s Computing Architectures Laboratory at the Nokia Research Centre, where the Finnish firm focuses on blue skies research. He took the post of CTO in January this year.

Henry Tirri, a research fellow at the Nokia Research Centre has been appointed head of the division in the interim.
