Sicap buys Swapcom in MDM power play

Swiss solutions provider Sicap last week bought French mobile software architect provider Swapcom. The acquisition is designed to strengthen Sicap’s position in the Mobile Device Management (MDM) market, it said in a stetement.

MDM software enables operators to manage users’ devices, performing functions such as centrally applying security measures and providing automatic handset updates. 32 operators currently have Swapcom software, the statement said.

Sicap will gain direct access to all of Swapcom’s customers, including Orange Corporate and subsidiaries worldwide, the pair said in the statement.

Swapcom will continue to operate under its own name until the end of 2006, when it will be fully integrated into the business. Sicap and Swapcom now have a total of 190 employees and achieve an annual turnover of about CHF.66 million.
