lte-awards

This year’s LTE World Summit 2011 took place in Amsterdam on 17-18th May and marked the seventh successful year for the event. For several fortunate companies the highlight of the gathering was the LTE Awards, where an independent panel of judges had the tricky task of picking out the very best products and services delivered during the year for the LTE industry.

The awards this year were held in the spectacular setting of De Duif in Amsterdam. Attendees from across the industry enjoyed a gala dinner where they were able to relax with colleagues, enjoy the atmosphere, and for the lucky winners, toast their success.

After the wine had been drunk and all the golden envelopes had been opened the industry saw eight companies recognised for their achievements, across ten categories with a total of 49 nominations.  This year the winners can be especially pleased with their efforts, as with increased deployment of live LTE services competition for recognition was harder than ever.

The final category winners were:

Best Contribution to LTE Standards: Patrice Beaudou and Gemalto
Best Contribution to R&D for LTE: Ericsson
Significant Progress for a Commercial Launch of LTE by a Vendor: Huawei
Best Network /Device Testing Product for LTE: Alcatel-Lucent
Best Enabling Technology: Gemalto
Best Chipset / Processor Product: Qualcomm
Best Core Network Product: Nokia Siemens Networks
Significant Progress for a Commercial Launch of LTE by an Operator: TeliaSonera
Best LTE Network Elements: Huawei
Best LTE Device /Handset: Samsung

Next year’s LTE World Summit will be held on 23-24th May 2012, at the CCIB in Barcelona, Spain.
