Cloud-based storage service provider Box announced a slew of strategic partnerships and new investment Friday worth over $100m. The deals, which include commercial agreements with Australian and Spanish incumbents Telstra and Telefónica Digital, will help fuel the company’s expansion in Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific.
US multiplay carrier and managed services provider CenturyLink has acquired Tier 3, a small infrastructure as a service and platform as a service provider. The double-play will bolster CenturyLink’s growing arsenal of cloud services, which already includes cloud service provider Savvis and Cloud Foundry-based platform as a service AppFog.
ollowing its EU and APAC expansion this summer, ICT and backbone network service provider Telstra Global announced Thursday that the company has expanded its cloud and “connected colocation” services to the US and Japan, and is in the process of upgrading existing facilities in Australia.
Informa Telecoms & Media has predicted that global annual SMS revenues will fall by US$23bn by 2018, to US$96.7bn, down from US$120 billion in 2013. The decline in global SMS revenues will largely be caused by the continuing adoption and use of over-the-top (OTT) messaging applications in both developed and emerging markets.
