Dan Moloney, president of Motorola’s Home business, which makes set top boxes, quit the firm this week to head up a small, Philadelphia-based electronics firm.

The news comes just weeks after Motorola announced plans to split up in early 2011, spinning off its handsets and set top box unit into one entity and its enterprise and networks arm into another.

The company will place Sanjay Jha as chief executive officer of the Mobile Devices and Home businesses, while Greg Brown will head up Motorola’s Enterprise Mobility Solutions and Networks businesses.

In the wake of Moloney’s departure, Jha will take over the leadership role for the Home business, effective immediately.

Moloney will take the position of CEO at Technitrol, a worldwide producer of electronic components, electrical contacts and assemblies and other precision-engineered parts and materials for manufacturers in the wireless and wireline communications industries.
