Equipment vendor Alcatel-Lucent on Wednesday announced the appointment of Jean Raby as Chief Financial & Legal Officer. Raby joins from Goldman Sachs, where he served as a partner and managing director in the Investment Banking Division. He will assume the role September 1.

When working at Goldman Sachs, Raby built relationships and provided strategic and corporate finance advice to clients across multiple industry sectors, including in telecom and information technologies.

Alcatel-Lucent CEO Michel Combes said: “[Raby’s] extensive knowledge of the industry and his deep understanding of global financial markets in the widest sense will be of great value as we drive ahead with the implementation of the Shift Plan announced in June and in particular our objectives to reach €1 billion of selective asset sales, €2 billion of debt refinancing and €2 billion of debt reduction before the end of 2015”.

Combes said the appointment of Philippe Guillemot as Chief Operations Officer in June and now Raby as Chief Financial & Legal Officer bring first class outside experience and fresh perspectives to the company.
