Vipnet has acquired three regional fixed line operators

The Croatian subsidiary of operator group Telekom Austria, Vipnet, has acquired three regional cable network providers. The operator has finalised the purchase of OKI, Kabelska televizija Šibenik (KTS) and the residential customer segment of Metronet, which was spun off from the rest of the company.

The move follows the group’s acquisition of the largest cable network provider in Croatia, B.net, in June 2011. According to the operator, these new acquisitions will result in an increase to its customer base of 6,500 subscribers. All parties have agreed not to disclose any information about the purchasing price of the single transactions.

“These three transactions represent a perfect complement to our present operational footprint in the fixed net business,” said Mladen Pejkovic, CEO of Vipnet. “With these new company acquisitions, we further consolidate our role as a leading fixed net infrastructure operator in urban areas and enable further convergent solutions.”

According to Vipnet, having direct access to this new customer base provides the operator with cross-selling and up-selling opportunities for mobile communication products and product bundles.
