i was blatently lied to by O2 retentions, they talked me into the o2 simplicity rather than leaving firstly saying they are releasing a new n series phone in late july/early august when pressed he admitted it was the n97, however i have since spoke to upgrades and retentions again to get the latest and was told by both that o2 are not stocking the n97 and will NEVER be stocking it and the n series they are stocking in late july/ early august is in fact the n86. furthermore ive been with them for 14 years since bt cellnet and they have since happily offered me my pack code without any effort to keep my custom. seems they dont care about loyal customers in the slightest and only want iphone users, lets face it the n97 out classes the iphone by far. and im glad the o2 simplicty was only a 30 day contract as i have my n97 with tmobile and i love it.

On phone to Carphonewarehouse upgrade dept for o2 and was told no n97 and no plans. I mentioned leaving the network and he said that is what I would have to do. Following it up with "would I like an iPhone". 1/07/09

I have to 100% agree with the poster. Many o2 customers are saddled with either leaving o2 or buying sim free.

Perhaps Nokia can offer some sort of deal to o2 users, for a sim free phone. ;-)

It's worse than you say. If you go to, what is by far the largest thread on the O2 forums, "N97 0n O2" http://forum.o2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=17444 you will see that, not only are O2 not offering the N97, they have been (allegedly) forging their 3rd party suppliers to claw back the handsets from people who ordered them (and actually received them) on O2 contracts, in good faith.

The most important phrase here is:-

IN GOOD FAITH.
